Tiger Softball Adds Early Signees


Fort Hays State softball coach Erin Kinberger announced Tuesday (Nov. 15) the signing of four high school student athletes to National Letters of Intent to play softball for the Tigers. Tori Beltz, Lauryn Chase, Courtney Dobson, Paxton Duran, Calee Eaton and Adara Erickson will join the Tigers program for the 2013 season.

“These young ladies have the ability to contribute to our program immediately,” Kinberger said. “They have been coached the right way and have outstanding people guiding them as they grow and prepare for this next step. We, as a staff and team, look forward to helping them reach new goals and achieve new levels of success in a Tiger uniform.” 

Tori Beltz
5'9, Fr., 1B, Rose Hill, Kan. (Rose Hill HS), Kansas Renegades
Two-time all-league selection for Rose Hill High School, where she has been a part of two regional champion teams. Batted .484 last season with 11 extra base hits and six home runs in helping Rose Hill to the AVCTL III League Championship.
Coach's Comment: “Tori can flat hit. Her calm presence in the box and the power she produces will be something to watch for the next four years.”
 




Lauryn Chase5'7, Fr., OF/UT, Colorado Springs, Colo. (Fountain-Fort Carson HS), Colorado Stars- Burns
Three-time All-Colorado Springs Metro Conference selection and 2011 all-state first team selection. She also earned multiple awards playing club softball including being named a Triple Crown All American in 2010.
Coach's Comment: “Lauryn can fly around the bases and her arm will surprise people. She is a well-coached athlete who will be a great addition to our outfield.”


Courtney Dobson
5'3, Fr., 2B, Broken Arrow, Okla. (Union HS), Oklahoma Mavericks Gold
Four-year letterwinner and two-time all-conference selection at Union HS, where she helped lead her team to the 2011 Class 6A State Championship. She was named all-district and all-region at second base in 2011 after being an honorable mention all-metro selection in 2010.
Coach's Comment: “Courtney is an all-around ball player. Her dedication to the game and excellence is something that will drive her success here and I look forward to it rubbing off on our program.”

Paxton Duran
5'5, Fr., P, Brighton, Colo. (Brighton HS), Colorado Stars- Burns
Duran led Brighton HS to the state tournament each of her four years, culminating in a runner-up finish in 2011. As a senior, hit .500 with six extra base hits and two home runs to go along with 26 RBI. She was even more dominant in the circle, allowing just 13 earned runs in 114 innings of work for an ERA of 0.80, leading to her second straight all-state first team selection.
Update: Named to the 2011 Denver Post All-Colorado softball team as well as Class 5A All-State team.
Coach's Comment: “Paxton brings a presence and desire that is one-of-a-kind. I can't wait to watch her tackle this next step in her softball career. I feel very fortunate to have her in a Tiger uniform.”


 
Calee Eaton
5'7, Fr., 1B/C, Clinton, Mo. (Clinton HS), Team Power Gold
Varsity letterwinner for all four years at Clinton HS where she was a four-time all-conference selection. She was also a three-time all-district and two-time all-region pick. In 2011, she batted .561 and had an on base percentage of .592.
Coach's Comment: “Calee is an athlete who will continue to grow here. I am eager to see what she can do under our guidance because the sky is the limit. Her raw athleticism and strength are tools that will help her transition into college athletics.”
 


Adara Erickson
5'9, Fr., C/UT, Fountain, Colo. (Fountain-Fort Carson HS), Colorado Styxx Gold
Batted .442 as a senior and garnered her second consecutive all-conference selection. She was an academic all-state selection each of the past two seasons. In summer ball, she was a member of the ASA A State Championship team in 2010 and made it to the USSSA all-star game in 2009 and 2010.
Coach's Comment: “Adara's physical strength is going to be an asset, in addition to her surprising quickness. Her desire to be a Tiger is enlightening and I look forward to developing her at the plate and behind it.”
