The Fort Hays State wrestling team cruised to a 29-6 non-conference dual win over CSU-Pueblo on Saturday (Jan. 5) at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan. FHSU took eight of the 10 matches in the dual to improve to 4-2 overall on the season. CSU-Pueblo moved to 1-1 on the season.
The Tigers won the first five matches, all by decision, to build a 15-0 lead before CSU-Pueblo got on the board with a win at 174 pounds. The dual started at 133 pounds.

Sam Thoman (165) all picked up wins to give FHSU the lead.
After
Travis Budke lost by three points at 174 pounds,
Zack Grimes (184) and
Tanner Kriss (197) each picked up major decision wins to extend the lead to 23-3. CSU-Pueblo picked up one more win at heavyweight by a tight 3-2 decision over
John Close before
Garrett Jones received a forfeit win at 125 pounds to make the final 29-6.
Fort Hays State heads to the Central Missouri Quad on Tuesday (Jan. 8), where they will compete in three duals. The Tigers will face Ashland, Central Missouri, and Ouachita Baptist. The dual against Central Missouri will count as the conference dual between the schools for the season.
