Softball Season and Home Opener vs UNK Friday - 1 pm

Live Stats

The Fort Hays State softball 2013 season and home opener against Nebraska-Kearney has now been moved up a day to Friday, February 8 at 1 pm. The teams will be playing a non-conference doubleheader at Tiger Stadium in Hays.

Fort Hays State is coming off a 31-19 record and third place finish in the MIAA in 2012 in Erin Kinberger's first year as head coach of the program. It gave Fort Hays State its fifth-consecutive 30-win season.

Fort Hays State has four players returning that have earned All-MIAA honors in their career, which includes Maddie Holub, Callie Wright, Amanda Vaupel, and Danie Brinkmann. Holub was a first-team selection last year as a pitcher, along with an all-region selection, as she struck out a new school record 306 batters and went 19-9 in the circle. Wright was a second team selection at catcher and Vaupel was an honorable mention selection in her freshman campaign. Brinkmann, who redshirted last year with an injury, was an honorable mention selection at shortstop in 2011.
