Fort Hays State picked up its second straight doubleheader sweep at home by defeating Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday (Mar. 13) 3-0 and 11-3. Fort Hays State moved to 10-7 overall and 7-6 in the MIAA with the wins. The Bearcats moved to 4-14 overall and 4-11 in the MIAA.

Jesse Hart threw a complete game shutout in the seven-inning contest, the first shutout by a Tiger pitcher since
Andy Lewton threw an eight-inning complete game in a 3-0 extra-inning win at Arkansas-Fort Smith on February 26, 2011.
Clayton Garland put the Tigers up immediately in the bottom of the first, leading off the inning with a solo home run.
Kelton Rule followed later with a RBI single.
Jordan Miller pushed the third run across for FHSU in the second with a RBI single.
After allowing two hits in the first, Hart allowed just five hits over the final six innings. The Bearcats got runners to third base in the fourth and fifth innings, but Hart got groundouts to end both innings. Hart was very effective, getting 14 of the 21 outs by groundout. He struck out two and did not allow a walk. Hart moved to 3-0 on the season.
Game 2: Fort Hays State 11, NW Missouri State 3
The teams were dead even after four and a half innings at 2-2, but FHSU exploded for four in the fifth and five in the sixth to take an 11-2 lead. The Bearcats had no answer for the big innings, pushing just one more across in the seventh.
The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the first, but FHSU tied the game on a
Ryan Busboom solo homer in the second. The one run was all starter
Chase Newman was charged in his 2.2 innings of work as
Nathan Zimmerman got the Tigers out of a jam with the final out in the third.
FHSU took the lead in the fourth on a
Chris Santoscoy RBI single, but the Bearcats tied the game up in the fifth with a two-out single.
Chase Anderson entered in relief of Bearcat starter Marcus Garrett at the start of the fifth and immediately struggled against the Tiger offense, allowing three straight singles and a bases-loaded walk to
Shane Wade to start the inning.
Jordan Miller knocked in a run on a fielder's choice and
Horace Johnson scored on a throwing error by the Bearcats.
Sam Thornton would score the fourth run of the inning on a wild pitch.
In the sixth, Johnson had a two-RBI double, Wade followed with a RBI double, Thornton had a RBI groundout, and
Clayton Garland had a RBI single.
Nathan Zimmerman moved to 3-0 on the season, picking up the win in 3.1 innings of relief. He allowed four hits, two walks, and struck out three.
Kyle Leroy pitched the seventh and eighth, allowing just one hit, and
Robert VanCour pitched the ninth.
