Fort Hays State had 163 student-athletes named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for 2012-13. Athletes receiving the honor must carry a 3.0 cumulative GPA through through the spring semester of 2013 and have at least two terms of at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

Fort Hays State had 10 sports with at least 10 individuals receiving this honor and tennis was also impressive in having seven of eight on its roster named to the list. Also impressive compared to roster size were women's basketball with 12 of 16, softball with 11 of 16, women's cross country/track and field with 26 of 36, and volleyball with 12 of 19 earning the honor, giving Fort Hays State five women's sports with 60 percent or better of the team earning a 3.0 or higher.

Football had the highest amount of students honored on the list with 21.
