Softball Picks up Non-Conference Win over Fort Lewis

The Fort Hays State softball team hosted Fort Lewis College on Monday morning (March 8) at Tiger Stadium in Hays. Fort Hays State scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to come-from-behind for a 5-4 win. The Tigers started a game with Nebraska-Kearney at noon, but heavy rains caused the game to be called in the third inning. The game against UNK will not count. Read more...

Softball Adds Home Games for Monday

The Fort Hays State softball team added two games on the schedule for Monday, March 8. The Tigers will host Fort Lewis College at 10 am and then Nebraska-Kearney at 12 pm. Fort Lewis and Nebraska-Kearney played a four-game RMAC series in Hays this weekend, due to an unplayable field in Kearney, Neb. The teams will pick up single non-conference games with the Tigers on Monday. Read more...

Tiger Softball Finishes 2-2 at Border Battle

The Fort Hays State softball squad played four games this past weekend at the Border Battle in Joplin, Mo. The Tigers defeated Drury 17-10 and Missouri Southern 9-3, but fell to Missouri S&T 8-3 and Quincy 6-0. The Tigers are now 5-5 on the season. Read more...

Softball Weekend Schedule Changes

The Fort Hays State softball team is scheduled for action at the Missouri Southern/Pittsburg State Border Battle this weekend. There were several changes made to the schedule this week, as the Tigers were originally scheduled to play all games in Pittsburg, Kan. The entire tournament has now moved to the Four Seasons Complex in Joplin, Mo. Several Tiger opponents and game times have changed for the event. Read more...

Due to the cancellation of the tournament scheduled in Tulsa, Okla., the weekend of February 12-14, the Tiger softball team hosted William Woods University in a doubleheader at home Saturday (Feb. 13). The Fort Hays State softball team was scheduled to play in Tulsa, Okla., this weekend at the Northeastern State Tournament. The tournament was cancelled on Thursday due to poor field conditions. The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association released the 2009 All-MIAA Softball Team on Friday evening prior to the start of the MIAA Tournament in Overland Park, Kan. The Tigers needed to win at least one game to qualify for the eight-team MIAA Tournament in Overland Park, Kan. Tigers Swept By Lady Blues; Weather Shortens Second Game

Weather struck the Topeka area before the end of the second game, giving Washburn a doubleheader sweep of the Tigers. Washburn took game one 11-8 and led 2-1 after four and a half innings in the second game. Heavy rains reached the stadium before Washburn could bat in the fifth, forcing the umpires to call the game. Softball Rearranges Schedule Once Again

The Fort Hays State softball schedule has been rearranged once again. The Tigers were originally scheduled to make up games against Missouri Southern on Tuesday. Those games have now been pushed to Wednesday (April 22) at 1:00 p.m. Now on Tuesday, the Tigers will host Newman University at 5:00 p.m., which was originally scheduled for Wednesday. The Tiger softball team played at Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday afternoon (April 11). The #22 ranked Mavericks won both games in their last at bat. FHSU led game one 2-0, but UNO scored three times in the bottom of the seventh for a win. After the Tigers won two games on Friday, they went 1-3 in their final four games of the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. Fort Hays State softball player Alex Eaton earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Angelo State Blue and Gold Classic in San Angelo, Texas. Eaton, a senior shortstop for the Tigers, batted .591 over the three-day (Feb. 13-15) weekend tournament. She had 13 hits in 22 at bats with three RBIs and five runs scored. Fort Hays State University Head Softball Coach Julie LeMaire announced the signing of Alicia Hammeke, Maddie Holub, and Malinee Powell for the 2010 season. Hammeke and Holub are currently seniors at Thomas More Prep-Marian High School in Hays, Kan. Both individuals have helped the Monarchs to back-to-back state championships the past two years, with the 4A State Championship in 2007 and the 3A State Championship in 2008. The Fort Hays State softball team was in action at the MIAA Tournament in Shawnee, Kan., on Thursday, May 1. Fort Hays State, the #8 seed in the tournament, lost its opening round game to #1 seed Emporia State 11-0, but bounced back to defeat #4 seed Pittsburg State 6-0 in an elimination contest. The All-MIAA Softball Teams were announced prior to the MIAA Tournament on Thursday, May 1. Six Tigers were named to the all-conference teams. The MIAA announced Tuesday (March 18) its first set of Softball Players of the Week for the 2008 season. The first awards of the season are in recognition of accomplishments from the beginning of the season through March 16. The Tigers were able to get in three games on Sunday in Pittsburg, Kan., at the Pittsburg State University softball complex. The Tigers went 1-2 on the day. Tiger Softball Hosts Three Camps In January

Fort Hays State University head softball coach Tonja Hadley has announced that the softball program will be hosting three camps this winter. There will be two Elite Hitters Camps, January 13th and January 27th, from 1:00-4:30 p.m. A Pitching Camp will take place Sunday, January 20th, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and an Offensive Skills Camp will also take place Sunday, January 20th, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Space is limited.
