Matt Simmons earned Athlete of the Week for his performance in a 84-65 win over visiting Northwest Missouri State on Saturday (Dec. 17). Simmons totaled a game-high 19 points and nine rebounds to narrowly miss a double-double.

The 19 points were a season-high for Simmons, who averages 9.0 points per game this season. Simmons finished the game 8-of-10 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. He also added two steals and two assists in the victory.

The senior forward leads the Tigers in rebounds this season, averaging 10.0 per game. He also is second on the team in assists with 30 on the season.

The Tigers, who are No. 15 in the latest polls. are 9-1 on the season and 3-1 in the MIAA. FHSU takes to the road for their next two games on Jan. 2 at Truman and Jan. 4 at Central Missouri.
