Kate Lehman earned Athlete of the Week for her stellar performance for the Fort Hays State women's basketball team, helping the Tigers to a 2-1 week. The freshman center averaged 15 points and nine rebounds in the three games, including a 22 point and 10 rebound performance, both career highs, in the game at Central Missouri. The double-double was the first of her career.
In the 69-63 win at Truman, Lehman totaled 15 points and missed a double-double by one as she finished with nine rebounds in the win. She added four blocks, one off her career high of five, and two assists, a career high.
The 22-point and 10-rebound performance against Central Missouri came in a 76-66 loss on the road at UCM. She shot 9-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the free throw line in the game. Lehman also added one block and one assist.
In a 64-55 win over SBU, Lehman scored eight points and totaled eight rebounds in 21 minutes of play. She also blocked three SBU shots in the victory. Lehman shot 2-of-3 from the field and 4-of-7 from the line.
The Tigers are 15-2 on the season and 5-2 in MIAA play. On Monday, the Tigers welcome MSSU to Hays for a 5:30 p.m. game then FHSU travels to Pittsburg State on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. tilt.
