Tim McElroy has been named Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Herm Wilson Invitational last Thursday. McElroy was the individual champion in the weight throw, while also playing fourth in the shot put.
McElroy, a senior from Logan, Kan., won the weight throw with a distance of 55 feet, 11.75 inches, which was over 3 feet farther than second place finisher Jeff Conner of Wichita State. McElroy also finished fourth in the shot put.
McElroy was one of two Tigers to claim first place finishes at the event. Alex Hendee won the 3000 meter run for FHSU. The Tigers finished in fourth at the Invitational.
The Tigers return to the track this weekend (Jan. 21) for the Kansas State Invitational in Manhattan, Kan.
