Tanner Kriss earned Athlete of the Week honors for his performance this weekend at the Kansas Cup. Kriss won an individual title at the 197-pound class and helped the Tigers to a third place finish overall.

The sophomore from Colby, Kan. won the 197-pound class. In his three matches, Kriss went 3-0 to take the title. Kriss started his run with a 3-1 decision over Anthony Grist of Bethany College then defeated Jake Nowak of Baker via a pin at 2:31. In the championship match, Kriss won a 4-1 decision to take the title over Zach Anderson of Labette CC.

On the season, Kriss is 11-6 and also has a second place finish at the Nebraska-Kearney Open back on Nov. 19.

Fort Hays as a team placed third behind host Baker University and Labette CC. FHSU is 3-2 on the dual season and 2-2 in the RMAC.

The Tigers return to conference action on Friday (Feb. 3) when FHSU hosts Colorado Mines at 6 p.m.
