Jenna Ulrich has been named Athlete of the Week after leading the Tiger volleyball team to a 4-0 record over the weekend, FHSU's best start since 2004. The Tigers had two straight set wins in day one, defeating University of the Southwest and Bacone College. On day two, FHSU won two five set matches, winning 3-2 over both Fort Lewis and Southern Arkansas.
Ulrich was impressive on day two. She totaled a team-high 15 kills and hit an incredible .538 in the win over Fort Lewis. She also added seven blocks and totaled 19.5 points in the match. In the win over Southern Arkansas, Ulrich almost duplicated that performance with 12 kills and a .478 hitting percentage. She equaled the seven blocks from FLC match and finished with 16.5 points.
On day one, Ulrich had six kills and two blocks against University of the Southwest. Against Bacone College, Ulrich finished with five kills and four blocks. She hit ..286 against the Warriors.
For the weekend, Ulrich totaled 38 kills with only six errors, hitting .410 in the four matches. She had 20 blocks and 51 points.
The Tigers travel to the Holiday Crossroads Fall Classic, hosted by Colorado Mesa and Western State in Grand Junction, Colo. FHSU plays Texas Woman's, Grand Canyon and Colorado Mesa on day one then takes on Western State and Oklahoma-Panhandle State on day two.
