Daniel Peralta has been named Athlete of the Week for his performance this week for the men's soccer program. The No. 13 Tigers went 2-0 over the weekend with Peralta scoring both game winners.
On Friday, day one of the Days Inn/FHSU Classic, the Tigers defeated the University of Sioux Falls, 3-1. With the score tied at 1-1, Peralta knocked in a free kick just outside the box in the 72nd minute. The Tigers added an insurance goal 8 minutes later for the 3-1 win.
In Sunday's game against Colorado Mesa, Peralta struck again in the 2-1 win. He knocked in a Tanner Brock rebound in the 70 minute after the Maverick goalkeeper couldn't corral the Brock shot. Tomas Mares notched the first Tiger goal in the 25th minute.
Peralta leads the Tigers with four goals this season, including three game winners. The redshirt junior also scored the game winner in the 4-1 victory over Colorado Christian to start the season. He tallied two goals in that game.
FHSU, in its second season of men's soccer, ranks No. 13 in latest national polls. The Tigers are 4-0 for the first time in their young history.
