Kayla Zoglman has been named Athlete of the Week for her performance with the FHSU volleyball team. The Tigers went 1-1 this week and snapped a 13-match winless streak against Emporia State on Saturday. Fort Hays State is 13-6 and 3-3 in the MIAA.

Zoglman posted a season-high 51 assists in the four-set win over Emporia State to help snap a 13-match losing streak to the Hornets this past Saturday. It marked the first win for FHSU over ESU in MIAA play since joining the conference in 2006. Zoglman averaged 12.75 assists per set in the win over ESU and averaged 13 assists in the three-set loss to No. 3 ranked Washburn, a match where FHSU lost two sets by just two points and one by four. She helped middle hitter Jenna Ulrich go errorless with 18 kills in the match against Emporia State, the most kills in an errorless performance in the rally-scoring era at FHSU. Also in the win against ESU, she recorded 16 digs for a double-double and nearly had a double-double against Washburn in just three sets with nine digs and 39 assists. She averaged 12.8 assists and 3.57 digs per set for the week, while recording four blocks and one service ace.

On the season, Zoglman leads the Tigers with 543 total assists and an average of 9.7 per set. She also had a team-high 17 service aces and 142 digs.

This weekend Tiger volleyball travels to the Southwest Baptist Tournament on Friday and Saturday for four matches.
