Kriss earned All-American status by finishing sixth at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in Cleveland, Ohio (Mar. 14-15). He and C.J. Napier gave Fort Hays State its first All-Americans in wrestling since the 2010-11 season.

Kriss won his first two matches of the tournament to assure a top-six placement at 197 pounds and his first All-American honor as a Tiger. He scored a tight 2-1 decision by tiebreaker in overtime in his first match of the tournament against Sam Mangum of Western State, then won by a tight 3-2 decision over Joe Brandt of Ashland in the quarterfinals.

He took the No. 1 wrestler in the nation, Romero Cotton of Nebraska-Kearney to overtime in the semfinals, but Cotton won with a late takedown in the sudden victory period, falling just short of the national championship match.
