Michelle Miller was the key in Fort Hays State's first MIAA win of the season in women's tennis. She won the decisive singles match in a 5-4 win at Missouri Western on Saturday (Mar. 15).
Miller helped FHSU to a 2-1 lead after doubles competition, pairing with Reinette Strydom to win 8-5 over Dougan and Dysart of Missouri Western at the No. 3 position.
All singles matches but Miller's finished in straight sets, leaving the team score tied 4-4 as Miller went to three sets with her opponent, Meara Smith, at the No. 3 position. In the third and decisive set of the match, Miller won 6-4 to push FHSU to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA.
This is the second time during the 2013-14 season that Miller won a deciding match for FHSU, doing the same during the fall against CSU-Pueblo.
