Dominique Jones had a huge opening weekend for the Fort Hays State basketball team in their two victories at the South Central Regional Shootout in Bartlesville, Okla. Jones finished with a career-high 34 points in the 81-76 win over No. 20 Midwestern State. He was 10-of-18 shooting, including a 5-of-10 effort beyond the three-point line, and a 9-of-10 effort at the charity stripe.
Jones, a Preseason All-American selection by The Sporting News, also led the Tigers to an 83-68 victory against Southwestern Oklahoma State with 20 points and five assists. Jones, a senior from Harlem, N.Y., is currently leading the team in points per game (24.0), assists per game (6.0), and steals per game (2.3).
