Fort Hays State sophomore Aldon Isenberg was the champion of the 133-pound weight class in the Elite Division at the University of Wyoming Cowboy Open this past weekend. This was the second consecutive tournament win for Isenberg after claiming the 133-pound title at the Dan Harris Open the previous week at Baker University. Isenberg remains unbeaten on the year at 7-0.
Isenberg won the Cowboy Open by defeating Michael Martinez of Wyoming in his first match, a returning Division I national tournament qualifier, and then posted consecutive falls over wrestlers from the United States Air Force Academy to claim the title. Isenberg, a native of Gardner, Kan., also earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week honors for the week ending on November 14, 2010.
