O'Brien hit the game-winning 19-yard field goal in Fort Hays State 30-29 victory over Central Oklahoma on Thursday (Sept. 3) in Edmond. Even though that was his only field goal attempt of the night, he also broke the Fort Hays State career record for extra points, making his 108th on Fort Hays State's first touchdown of the night. He added two more extra points after that and now sits with 110 in his career. He averaged 65 yards per kickoff and had two punt attempts that averaged 36.5 yards. He also had a fumble recovery on one of Central Oklahoma's kickoff returns.
