Gulley generated 19 team points and went 3-0 on his way to the Kansas Cup title at 285 pounds. Gulley defeated Pratt's Tommy Vu by fall (1:44) and Colby Community College's Zell Beiberle with a 5-1 decision. In the championship bout, Gulley scored another fall, this time over Ottawa University's Armondo Contreas at the 6:04 mark. He helped the Tigers to a third-straight Kansas Cup title.
