Tigner rushed for a career-high 171 yards and had 182 all-purpose yards, all in the second half, of the 37-20 win for Fort Hays State over Washburn in Hays. With FHSU trailing 20-10 at the half, Tigner had his first touch of the ball about two minutes into the third quarter. His first three rushes went for 10, 12, and 12 yards, reaching the endzone on the second 12-yard gainer. He then set up the game-tying field goal later in the third quarter when he caught a pass for 11 yards and then produced his longest rush of the game, a 46-yard gainer. Another 12-yard run for Tigner started the scoring drive that gave FHSU the lead, 27-20, at the 12:36 mark of the fourth quarter. Then on the next FHSU touchdown drive, he ran the ball six straight times with gains of 11, 12, and 16 among the bundle, leading to a touchdown pass that put FHSU in front 34-20. Tigner was the spark FHSU needed for 27 unanswered points, producing all 171 of his rushing yards and 182 all-purpose yards in the second half. He averaged 8.6 yards per carry. It was the first 100-yard rushing game of Tigner's career, helping FHSU move to 7-0 for the first time in 100 years (last time 1917).
