From his tight end position, Wendelberger had a career-high 145 receiving yards on just seven catches with two touchdowns in the 55-20 win for Fort Hays State over Missouri Southern. He averaged 20.7 yards per reception. Four of his receptions went for more than 20 yards, while his two touchdown catches went for 21 and 9 yards. It was his second 100-plus yard receiving performance of the season. He came into the game with 120 receiving yards on the season and more than doubled his total with his new career-high effort. He also served as the lead blocker opening a lane on the 55-yard touchdown run by Charles Tigner to open the scoring in the first quarter. Quarterback Jacob Mezera had 237 passing yards and 4 touchdowns in the first half and sat out the majority of the second half, but Wendelberger accounted for half of his touchdown passes and 61 percent of his passing yards.
