Melissa Skovira was honored as the MIAA Student-Athlete of the Week for the Week of March 28-April 3rd after going 3-1 in singles and doubles action. She helped FHSU to its first conference win of the season, 7-2 over Missouri Western, by winning her No. 1 singles match in straight sets and teaming up with Brianna Watkins to win the No. 1 doubles match. Then, Skovira played at the No. 2 singles position and was the only Tiger to post a straight-set win over UNO. Her only loss of the weekend was in doubles action at the No. 1 position against UNO.
This past weekend, Skovira went 2-2, getting a split in both singles and doubles action. Both of her wins came in the Tigers 9-0 win over Lincoln. She posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory from the No. 1 singles position and an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles, teaming once again with Watkins.
