Diego Cabral earned Athlete of the Week after helping the men's soccer team to two wins last week, increasing the Tigers winning streak to four games and upping their record to 8-2-1 on the season, FHSU's first season of soccer in school history.
Cabral continued to pick apart opponents defenses with his spectuacular passing, totalling four assists in the Tigers two wins this week. In the Tigers win at Upper Iowa, Cabral set up the first FHSU goal with a pass to Tomas Mares. A Cabral pass helped Adrian Ramirez knock home the game winner with less than three minutes left, giving the Tigers the 3-2 victory.
The freshman from Asuncion, Paraguay added two more assists in the 3-1 win over NCAA Division I opponent Nebraska Omaha, including another assist on a game winner. Cabral's first assist came on the game winning goal by Ricardo Yeverino early in the second half. Cabral added his second assist on Tomas Mares' goal that put the Tigers up 3-1.
Cabral has a team-high eight assists this season for the Tigers, including six in the last three games. He also totaled two assists in the 4-0 victory at Truman two weeks ago. With his two goals, Cabral has 12 points, which ranks him second on the team behind Yeverino's team-high 23 points.
