Kendrick Morse earned Athlete of the Week honors after helping the Tigers basketball team to a perfect 3-0 week, defeating Newman (75-65), Sterling College (81-66) and Baker University (90-72). Morse averaged 15 points, 4.3 assists, three rebounds and one steal during the three-game stretch. The Tigers are now 6-0 on the season and start MIAA play on Wednesday at Lincoln.
Morse, a junior point guard from Chicago, scored a game-high and career-high 20 points in the 90-72 win over Baker. In just 23 minutes of play, Morse scored 20 on 8-of-14 shooting from the field, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc and 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Morse added three assists and two steals in the win.
Morse added 15 points in the 81-66 win over Sterling. He was 4-of-7 from the field and an impressive 3-of-4 from 3. Morse totaled season highs in both assists with five and rebounds with four in 29 minutes of action.
In the 75-65 win over Newman, Morse was one of four Tigers in double figures with 10 points. He matched his career-high in assists with five and added three rebounds and a steal.
The Tigers are 6-0 on the season and begin MIAA action on Wednesday on the road at 7:30 p.m.
