Walker Clarke earned Athlete of the Week honors for his first place finish in Saturday's Bob Smith Open. Clarke was the champion in the 184-pound class, going 4-0 in the open.
For his stellar performance at the Bob Smith Open, Clarke was also named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the event. In the championship bout, Clarke defeated UCO's Tanner Keck in a 3-2 decision. Clarke also defeated Zach Aylor (11-4), Alex Ievushenko (5-0) and Chad Wright (12-6) during his 4-0 day.
The junior from Stillwater, Okla., also helped the Tiger wrestlers upset No. 7 Central Oklahoma ,21-18, on Thursday night. Clarke defeated Keck, 3-2, in the 184-pound class bout, which was part of four straight wins for the Tigers.
The Tiger wrestlers are 1-0 on the season and travel to Wichita, Kan. on Sunday for the Newman Invitational at 9 a.m.
