The Tigers are currently on a five-game losing streak after opening the season 3-0. The Tigers will have a difficult task in front of them Saturday, trying to end Northwest Missouri State's conference record 43-game winning streak in the MIAA. The Bearcats were pushed to the limit last week at Washburn, pulling out a 42-41 win, stopping a two-point conversion attempt by Washburn late in the game.

The Tigers are coming off a disappointing 38-21 loss to Pittsburg State in Hays last week, a game where they held a 21-14 lead after three quarters. The Tigers are trying to snap their longest losing skid since 2008, when they lost the last eight games of the season.

The Tigers produced the most points of any team against Northwest Missouri State last year in Hays, falling by a score of 66-40. FHSU struggled last time it played in Maryville, falling 56-7 despite having the ball for nearly 47 minutes of the game. Fort Hays State is looking to snap a six-game losing streak to Northwest Missouri State, with its last win coming all the way back in 1978. The all-time series with NWMSU is tied 12-12-1.

Northwest Missouri State enters on a six-game winning streak after losing its season opener at home to Texas A&M-Kingsville, which is currently ranked right behind NWMSU at No. 5 in the nation. The Bearcats are trying to keep pace with Central Missouri for first place in the conference, as the Mules enter this week 7-0 in the conference and ranked No. 7 in the nation at 8-1 overall.
