Tigers Roll in Home Opener over Bethany

Box Score

The Fort Hays State men's basketball team rolled in its home opener, defeating Bethany College 103-60 on Monday night (Nov. 15). The Tigers moved to 3-0 overall and now prepare to play long time rival Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday (Nov. 20) at home at 4 pm.

Dominique Jones paced the Tigers with 18 points, seven assists, and four steals. He played just a couple of minutes in the second half before sitting for the remainder of the night. Sean Dreiling did a tremendous job replacing Jones in the second half, scoring a career-high 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting, which included four three-point field goals.

Also reaching double figures in scoring for the Tigers were Moses Dayee with 13 and Ken Bowman and Corbin Kuntzsch each with 10. The Tigers had 28 assists as a team.

The Tigers shot 58.6 percent overall from the field, a season high, and 48.1 percent from beyond the 3-point line. FHSU held Bethany to just 38.7 percent shooting from the field and 7.1 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

The Tigers have three more non-conference games remaining in November, all at home, before starting conference play on December 1 at home.
