Fort Hays State was led in the opener by sophomore Kara McFarland, who had 14 points, four rebounds, four steals, and two blocked shots before fouling out. Another sophomore, Kelsie Sorenson, chipped in a career-high 12 points and four rebounds in her first career start. Sophomore Traci Keyser and junior Rhys Pihl both added 11 points for the Tigers.
The Tigers' former Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival and future MIAA conference foe Nebraska-Kearney will visit Hays on Saturday afternoon for a 2:00 matchup. FHSU defeated the Lopers last season 55-50 in Kearney, Neb.
