The No. 18 ranked Tigers rolled to a 96-47 win over Sterling College on Saturday (Nov. 27) in their final non-conference game of the season. The Tigers jumped out to a 51-24 lead at halftime and never looked back. Fort Hays State is now 6-0 overall.
The Tigers shot a season-high 62.5 percent from the field, which included a 47.4 percent effort beyond the 3-point line. Sterling was held to 32 percent shooting from the field and just 26.7 percent beyond the 3-point line.
Dijon Smith led the way for FHSU with 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 shooting at the free-throw line.
Ben Congiusta followed with a season-high 13 points.
Ken Bowman and
Dominique Jones also reached double figures, each with 10. Bowman and
Corbin Kuntzsch led the Tigers in rebounds, each with six.
Moses Dayee had a team-high six assists. Every Tiger scored in the game.
Cody Brazelton was the only Sterling player to score in double figures with 11. He also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds for the Warriors.
The Tigers open conference play on Wednesday night at home hosting Lincoln University (Mo.) Game time is set for 7:30 pm, which follows the women's game at 5:30 pm. Lincoln is a new member to the MIAA this season, adding two games to the conference slate, which will be 22 games this season.
