Lady Tigers Let First Half Lead Slip Away at Missouri Western

The Lady Tigers held a three-point halftime lead, but were outscored by 21 in the second half falling 76-58 at Missouri Western Saturday afternoon (Dec. 11). The Lady Tigers struggled shooting the ball throughout the majority of the game, finishing just 30.8 percent from the floor, including just 25 percent beyond the 3-point line.

The Lady Tigers fell down 7-0 to start the game, but battled back throughout the first half to take a 35-32 halftime lead. FHSU led by seven early in the second half at the 18:02 mark, but Missouri Western went on a 9-0 run to claim the lead back. FHSU tied the game at the 12:05 mark, but the Griffons went on another burst to take control of the game. They finished on a 15-2 run to win by 18.

Kara Champlin led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 15 points. Crista Bechard was the only other FHSU player in double figures with 11 points, which included three 3-point field goals.

The Griffons had two double-double performers in points and rebounds. Rachel Luteyn led in scoring with 21 points and 10 rebounds and Jessica Koch had 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Lauren Nolke had 19 points, which included five 3-point field goals. Colleen Schneider also reached double figures in scoring with 12.

The Lady Tigers finish the current three-game road swing next Saturday (Dec. 18) at Northwest Missouri State. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
