Game Notes I Watch Live I Listen Live I Live Stats

The Lady Tigers open 2011 by hosting Truman in the first game of a two-game homestand on Monday, January 3 at 5:30 pm. Fort Hays State looks to snap a three-game losing streak, entering the game with an overall mark of 5-4 and 2-3 in the MIAA. Truman is also 5-4 overall, but 3-2 in the MIAA.

Truman carries a three-game road win streak into the game. The Bulldogs are 2-0 in MIAA road games this year. The only two losses for the Bulldogs in conference play were to Washburn and Emporia State, a pair of top 10 nationally ranked teams. Truman is coming off a non-conference road win at Illinois-Springfield by a score of 67-50 on December 29.

The Lady Tigers are unbeaten at home this year at 5-0. All four losses have been on the road. The Lady Tigers average 22.2 points per game more at home than on the road.

Fort Hays State and Truman have split the regular season series each of the last three years. Each team won on the road last year. Truman defeated FHSU 63-61 last year in Hays.

The Lady Tigers have struggled shooting the ball this year, but turnovers and steals created by their defense have kept them in games. Eleven of the 13 players that have attempted shots this year are shooting under 40 percent from the field for the season. The Lady Tigers are second in the MIAA in steals at 11.1 per game and third in turnovers created at 20.2 per game.

Kimber Weiser is the only Lady Tiger averaging double figures in scoring at 10.2 points per game. Kara Champlin, the team's leader in field goal percentage (.667) is second in scoring at 8.9 points per game.

Point guard Kaniesha Pettaway helps the team in several aspects. She ranks third in the MIAA in assists per game (4.0) and 10th in steals per game (1.7). She also ranks third on the team in rebounds averaging 3.7 per game.
