Lady Tigers Look to End Skid against Central Missouri

Game Notes  I  Listen Live  I  Watch Live  I  Live Stats

The Fort Hays State women's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday night (Jan. 5) as they host Central Missouri. The Lady Tigers will be trying to snap a losing streak that reached four games on Monday when they fell to Truman 54-45. It was the first home loss of the season for the Lady Tigers.

Fort Hays State (5-5, 2-4 MIAA) has been really struggling to put points on the board recently, and they are now ranked in the bottom half of the conference in most offensive categories. The Lady Tigers average 64.4 points per game and are shooting just 35% (219-for-626) from the field. Of the 11 players averaging 10 or more minutes per game, only two have a shooting percentage of over 40% (Kara Champlin & Kara McFarland).

Kimber Weiser is the leading scorer for FHSU, averaging 9.6 points per game, leaving the Lady Tigers with no players that are averaging double figure points per game. Kara Champlin is the second leading scorer, averaging 9.0 points per game, and the leading rebounder at 5.6 per game.

Central Missouri (6-6, 2-4 MIAA) is currently riding a two-game losing streak following losses to Pittsburg State at home and at Washburn. The Jennies are just 2-3 on the road so far this season. Forwards Rebecca Roberts and Nicole Raddell are the team's top two scorers and rebounders.

Fort Hays State is 3-5 against the Jennies since joining the MIAA in 2006-07, with two of the three victories coming at Gross Memorial Coliseum. Coach Tony Hobson is 2-2 against Central Missouri, splitting the season series with the Jennies in both of his seasons at FHSU.

Next up for the Lady Tigers is a two-game road trip to Southwest Baptist on Saturday (Jan. 8) followed by a game at Missouri Southern on Monday (Jan. 10). Both games will start at 5:30 pm.
