The Fort Hays State men's soccer team dominated Truman, 4-0, on Friday (Oct. 7) on the road in Kirksville, Mo. The Tigers got two goals each from
Ricardo Yeverino and
Tomas Mares in the win.
Mares notched the first two FHSU goals, scoring his first unassisted in the 10
th minute on a shot from the left side from five yards out. Mares added his second of the game, and second of the year, 15 minutes later, scoring from 15 yards away on a pass from
Diego Cabral. The Tigers finished the first half up 2-0.
Yeverino provided the second half scoring for the Tigers, notching his two goals 13 minutes apart in the 47
th and 60
th minutes. The junior striker scored first on a shot from the left side from 30 yards away. Cabral added his second assist in the game on the goal. Yeverino scored again off a turnover, going one-on-one against a Bulldog defender and beating the goalkeeper from 20 yards. The two goals give Yeverino 10 on the season, a team high.
Ryan Pakieser notched the win in goal, stopping two Bulldog shots in the shutout. The shutout is Pakieser's second on the season.
The win upped FHSU's record to 6-2-1 on the season, and the Tigers travel to Upper Iowa on Sunday (Oct. 9) for a 3 p.m. kickoff in Fayette, Iowa.
