The FHSU men's basketball team, fresh off a 65-51 victory in its season opener at Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday, hosts Bethany College in the home opener for the 2011-12 season on Tuesday (Nov. 15). Tipoff against the Swedes is set for 7 pm at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
FHSU looks to build on its 1-0 record, while Bethany College enters at 1-3 overall. The Tigers have won 15 straight contests against Bethany, dating back to the early 1980s. Bethany is one of four NAIA schools the Tigers host in a five-game non-conference home stand that will last just a little past Thanksgiving. Newman is the only NCAA Division II school the Tigers face in that stretch. The MIAA opener for the Tigers is on November 30 at Lincoln.
Markus Yarbrough paced the Tigers in the opener at Nebraska-Kearney with 11 points, followed by
Karron McKenzie with 10 points.
Jason Ball scored a career-high nine points in the win and
Matt Simmons pulled down 16 rebounds to tie his career high.
