The Fort Hays State women's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 93-34 win over Tabor College on Wednesday night (Nov. 16) at Gross Memorial Coliseum. Every player for FHSU scored, but only one reached double figures on a night where the Lady Tigers shot 46.7% from the field and 25.0% from 3-point range.
Katelyn Edwards, the reigning MIAA Player of the Week, led the way for Fort Hays State, scoring 14 points in only 16 minutes of action. While she was the only Lady Tiger to score in double figures, four other players had either eight or nine points. FHSU also balanced out the minutes in the game, with 14 of 15 players logging at least 10 minutes of action while nobody played more than 17.
The rebounding balance for FHSU was also similar, with all but one player pulling down a board and four with five or more. Edwards also led the Lady Tigers in that category with six rebounds.
Crista Bechard had six of Fort Hays State's 16 assists and Edwards,
Kaiameka Brown and
Keriann Shaw each had three steals.
Kate Lehman was solid in the paint with four points, five rebounds and a game-high four blocks.
Fort Hays State is now 3-0 on the young season and they will face Central Christian on Friday (Nov. 18) at 5:30 pm in Gross Memorial Coliseum.
