Lady Tigers Run Away From Central Christian

The Fort Hays State women's basketball team used an 18-2 run to open the game and never looked back as they cruised to a 105-24 win from Central Christian (Kan.) College on Friday night (Nov. 18) at Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Lady Tigers had 13 different players score and four in double figures as they improved to 4-0 on the season.

Everybody on the FHSU roster played at least nine minutes with nobody getting more than 16 minutes of action. Katelyn Edwards again led the way for the Lady Tigers, scoring 18 points and pulling down five rebounds in just 14 minutes of play. Kimber Weiser had 14 points and a career-high seven rebounds off the bench, while Traci Keyser (13) and Brooke Arp (12) also had double figure scoring efforts. Weiser, Keyser and Keriann Shaw each had seven rebounds for FHSU, who outrebounded Central Christian 66-28.

The Lady Tigers also had 12 blocks on the night, with Kate Lehman leading the way with five while Arp, Jacqueline Bartleson and Janel Durler each had two. Fort Hays State forced 22 turnovers by Central Christian, including 12 steals, with three of them coming from Logan Antenen. Antenen was one of two Tigers who did not score and did not even attempt a shot, but she did have a game-high seven assists.

Central Christian, who only dressed eight players, was led by seven points from Raven Void and eight rebounds from Harley Pate. The game was counted as an exhibition for Central Christian, who remains 2-7 on the year.

Fort Hays State improves to 4-0 on the year heading into a matchup tomorrow night against Northwestern Oklahoma State. The game is set to tip at 7:00 pm at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
