Game Notes I Watch Live I Listen Live I Live Stats

The FHSU women's basketball team returns to non-conference play on Tuesday evening (Dec. 13) at Nebraska-Kearney. Game time is set for 6 pm at the Health and Sports Center in Kearney, Neb. FHSU enters the contest at 8-1 overall, while the Lopers are winless at 0-8.

Fort Hays State suffered its first setback of the season this past Wednesday against No. 15 ranked Washburn at home, 67-60, but rebounded to defeat Missouri Western on Saturday 70-48. The Lady Tigers matched their best start to a season ever at 7-0 before falling to Washburn. Fort Hays State is among six women's teams in the MIAA that have just one loss or less overall. Seven teams in the MIAA have just one or no losses in conference play.

Nebraska-Kearney is still in search of its first win of the season. The Lopers have lost all of their games by at least seven points, with most being double figure spreads. The closest loss for the Lopers was a seven-point overtime setback to Dixie State (Utah).

Fort Hays State enters this game with a two-game win streak over the Lopers. They won the last meeting in Kearney in 2009-10 by a score of 55-50. FHSU won last year's game in Hays 86-64. Nebraska-Kearney becomes a member of the MIAA in 2012-13, which will renew the long-time rivalry between the schools. FHSU holds a 41-35 edge in the all-time series. Fort Hays State is 6-0 against non-conference opponents so far this year.

Katelyn Edwards continues to lead FHSU in scoring and rebounding at 15.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Crista Bechard is the leading assister with 3.6 per game. Also averaging double figures in points are Traci Keyser (11.4.) and Melissa Nelson (10.0).
