The Fort Hays State women's basketball team face a ranked team at home for the second straight week as No. 11 Washburn comes to Gross Memorial Coliseum on Saturday (Feb. 5) afternoon. The game is the MIAA Game of the Week and will be televised on the MIAA network, which is Eagle Communications channel 15 in Hays. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.

Tiger fans are encouraged to wear black in support of their team as we 'Black Out the Bods.' Also, the first 1,500 fans to arrive at the Coliseum receive a chance to win a TV, laptop, or Smartphone, courtesy of Nex Tech / Nex Tech Wireless.

Fort Hays State has won a season-high four consecutive games following the 71-68 victory over Missouri Western on Thursday evening. However, the Lady Tigers have not had any luck against Washburn lately, dropping the last 16 contests in the series. The last Fort Hays State win against Washburn came back on December 3, 1994 when the Lady Tigers scored a 67-62 win in Topeka.

The hot shooting of Traci Keyser and Crista Bechard over the past few games has been a key reason for the turnaround in the Lady Tigers season. Both are averaging 20.5 points per game during the winning streak and have scored in double figures in each game. For the year, Keyser leads the team averaging 10.4 points per game while Bechard is right behind with 10.0 points per game.

Washburn is currently a half game back of Northwest Missouri State for first place in the MIAA standings at 11-3. They are 15-3 overall this season and ranked No. 11 in the most recent WBCA Top 25 Poll. Leading the charge for the Lady Blues is Cassie Lombardino, who is averaging 16.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Stevi Schultz, who torched FHSU with 26 points the last time the teams met, is Washburn's second leading scorer, averaging 15.3 points per game. Schultz also leads the Lady Blues with 7.7 rebounds per game.
