The Tigers men's soccer team scored the first three goals to cruise to a 4-2 win over visiting Doane College on Wednesday night (Sept. 14) at the FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays.

Ricardo Yeverino scored just 11 minutes into the game, finding the back of the net off a pass from Diego Cabral. The Tigers added to the 1-0 score on an unassisted goal by Jaccob Rangel, his first of the season, at 30:41. The Tigers went into half with the 2-0 lead.

The Tigers continued to roll in the second half as Diego Cabral got in on the scoring at 60:12 to put FHSU up 3-0 in the contest.

FHSU dominated play in the first 80 minutes of the match; however, the visiting Tigers tallied two goals less than two minutes apart once FHSU put in some late substitutions. Chris Watson and Devon Strecker each scored for Doane at 83:22 and 84:55, respectively.

Yeverino put the game away for good, scoring on a breakaway to give the Tigers a 4-2 advantage at 85:13. The goal was his second of the night and his team-leading fifth of the season.

FHSU held the advantage in shots on the night, totaling 18 shots to 15 from Doane.

Kent Freund made his first start at goalkeeper for the Tigers, making nine saves, while allowing two goals. Freund also picked up an assist on the final Yeverino goal.

The Tigers improve to 3-2 on the season, and FHSU takes to the road this weekend for a game with West Texas A&M University on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
