The Fort Hays State men's soccer team ends its four-match road trip with two important MIAA matches. The Tigers start their weekend with a showdown with No. 19 Northeastern State on Thursday (Oct. 18) at 7 p.m. in Tahlequah, Okla., and then FHSU goes to Searcy, Ark. to face Harding on Saturday (Oct. 20) at 6 p.m.
The Tigers, who are currently 9-4-1 and 5-2 in the MIAA, sit in fourth place in the MIAA standings with 15 points, but are only two points away from No. 1 Lindenwood. The match with Northeastern State is key as the Riverhawks tie for second in the standings with Truman with 16 points.
With a win this weekend, the Tigers would clinch a place in the MIAA Tournament.
No. 19 Northeastern State is currently 8-3-2 and 5-1-1 in the MIAA. Last week, the Riverhawks won, 5-0, over Southwest Baptist and tied Lindenwood, 0-0. For the season, the offense is led by Bo White and Juan Peralta with 10 and nine goals, respectively. Seven Riverhawks have scored goals this season. Jordan Ladbrooke has started all 13 matches in goal, averaging 1.03 goals allowed with four shutouts and a .750 save percentage.
Harding is 4-8-3 overall and sit in fifth in the MIAA with a 2-4-1 record. Last week, HU tied SBU, 1-1, and fell to Lindenwood, 2-1. Ryan Wilhelm leads the offense with four goals and three assists. Three other Bison have three goals on the season. Chase Keeney has played the majority of the minutes in goal. He has a 1.41 goals against average and a .736 save percentage with three shutouts.
The Tigers end the regular season with senior day at FHSU Soccer Stadium on Friday (Oct. 26) against Southern Nazarene at 8 p.m.
