Daniel Peralta scored the first hat trick in Fort Hays State men's soccer history in a 5-1 win over Harding in Searcy, Ark. on Saturday (Oct. 20). The Tigers improved to 10-4-2 and 6-2-1 in the MIAA.
Peralta started the scoring with a goal on a penalty kick in the 10th minute, giving FHSU the early 1-0 advantage.
Tomas Mares doubled the score to 2-0 with a goal in the 19th minute, his ninth of the season. Mares scored off a HU defensive miscue and socred on a shot to the lower right side. Peralta added his second goal six minutes later in the 25th minute as he dribbled through the defense with the keeper out of the goal for a 3-0 Tiger lead.
Peralta got the hat trick early in the second half, scoring in the 48th minute on a shot to the lower right corner.
Michael Cole picked up the assist.
Kyle Markovits scored his first goal as a Tiger for a 5-0 advantage in the 78th minute.
Joe Albright sent in a cross from the right that Markovits hit to the lower left corner for the goal.
Harding got a goal late in the 89th minute on a penalty kick to end the shutout.

Kent Freund went all 90 minutes, allowing the late goal and making seven saves.
The Tigers end the regular season at home against Southern Nazarene on Friday (Oct. 26) at 8 p.m. at the FHSU Soccer Stadium in Hays.
