Box Score The Fort Hays State men's soccer team held Southern Nazarene scoreless and poured in four goals in a 4-0 victory Friday night (Oct. 26) on Senior Night at the FHSU Soccer Stadium. The Tigers end the regular season 11-4-2 and 7-2-1 in the MIAA, which ties for third in the conference.
After a slow start, FHSU score two goals in less than 2 minutes.
Tomas Mares put in a cross from
Diego Cabral in the 36th minute for a 1-0 Tiger advantage. FHSU went up 2-0 on a header from
Austin Clifton in the 38th minute off the cross from Cabral. At the half, the Tigers led 2-0.
Cabral got his third assist of the match on a
Daniel Peralta goal in the 63rd minute. Cabral's shot knocked off the crossbar, and Peralta hit it in on the right edge of the goal for a 3-0 advantage. On the final goal, Peralta picked up the assist on a
Joe Albright goal in the 74th minute. Albright put in a cross from Peralta.
The Tigers more than doubled the Crimson Storm in shots, holding a 28-13 advantage.
Kent Freund got the shutout in goal, making seven saves and holding SNU scoreless. It is his second shutout of the season.
FHSU now travels to the MIAA Tournament next week in Kansas City. The Tigers are the No. 4 seed and play Thursday (Nov. 1) at 7 p.m. against No. 1-seeded Lindenwood. The winner advances to the MIAA championship on Saturday (Nov. 3) at 11 a.m.
