The No. 18 FHSU men's soccer team ends its six-match homestand this weekend with two non-conference opponents. The Tigers take on Eastern New Mexico on Friday (Oct. 5) at 2 p.m. and clash with No. 11 West Texas A&M on Sunday (Oct. 7) at 12 p.m.
 
The Tigers, currently 8-2 and 4-1 in the MIAA, went 1-1 last week with a top 25 loss, 1-0, to No. 10 Lindenwood. FHSU bounced back with a record setting 7-0 win over Southwest Baptist, where five Tigers scored. With the loss, FHSU dropped from No. 9, its highest ranking in history, to No. 18 this week.
 
With two goals against SBU, Tomas Mares leads the Tigers with seven goals. Michael Cole added his fifth goal of the season in the SBU win and is tied with Daniel Peralta for No. 2 in goals. Diego Cabral totals four goals and Austin Clifton is the only other Tiger with multiple goals at three. Clifton and Tanner Brock tie for the team high in assist with four. In goal Kent Freund has made three of the last four starts. He has a 0.97 goals against average with a .818 save percentage and a 3-1 record, including one shutout.
 
Eastern New Mexico is 7-4 overall and 0-1 in the Lone Star Conference. The Greyhound offense is led by Deigo Santos with six goals and three assists, and Cantu Palombo adds five scores. Carlos Viveros, Abayneh Crosby and Michael Stewart all total four goals. In goal Fredrik Widfeldt has nine starts with a 1.00 goals against average and a .710 save percentage. This weekend is the second meeting between the two programs as ENMU won, 1-0, last season on Oct. 30, 2011 in Portales, N.M.
 
No. 11 West Texas A&M is 8-1-1, including a 2-0 win over FHSU in Canyon on Sept. 16, Texas on Sept. 16, and 1-1 in the Lone Star Conference. Dominic Furness leads the Buffs offense with 13 goals and five assists. The 31 points rank him first in Division II men's soccer this season. His 13 goals rank him No. 2 in the nation, and he is third in goals per game at 1.33. William Cooper has all 10 starts in goal. He has a 1.11 goals against average and a .738 save percentage. This is the fourth meeting between the two teams with the Buffs leading 2-1 in the series.
 
After this weekend, the Tigers hit the road for four straight matches. Next weekend, FHSU travels to Truman on Thursday (Oct. 11) for a 3 p.m. match in Kirksville, Mo., the goes to Upper Iowa on Friday (Oct. 12) for a 3 p.m. tilt in Fayette, Iowa.
