The Fort Hays State men's soccer team plays MIAA regular season champion Lindenwood on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the semifinals of the MIAA Tournament. The Tigers are the No. 4 seed in the tourney, and the Lions are the No. 1 seed. In the other semifinal match, No. 2 Northeastern State plays No. 3 Truman at 4 p.m.
The four-team tournament is located at the Olathe District Activities Center in Olathe, Kan. The address is 20925 W 159th St., Olathe, KS 66062.
The Tigers finished the regular season 11-4-2 and 7-2-1 in the MIAA. FHSU tied for third in the MIAA standings with Truman. The pair of
Tomas Mares and
Daniel Peralta led the offensive attack with 10 goals each.
Diego Cabral led the Tigers with seven assists and was third in goals with seven. In goal,
Kent Freund made 10 starts and allowed 1.16 goals per game with two shutouts.
The semifinals match is the second meeting between the two teams. Lindenwood defeated FHSU, 1-0, earlier this season on Sept. 27 in Hays. The Lions' Craig McTear scored in the 58th minute on a header off a corner kick for the game-winning goal.
The winner of Thursday's match advances to the MIAA Tournament Championship match on Saturday (Nov. 3) at 11 a.m.
