Box Score The Fort Hays State men's soccer team allowed a goal less than 3 minutes into the contest in a 2-0 loss to Eastern New Mexico on Friday (Oct. 5) afternoon at the FHSU Soccer Stadium. The Tigers drop to 8-3 overall and ENMU improves to 8-4.
The Greyhounds' Crosby Abayneh hit in a rebounded shot from Jehmaine Brooks to put ENMU up 1-0 in the third minute of the contest. FHSU's
Ryan Pakieser stopped the initial shot, but could not hang onto the ball allowing ENMU to put it in.
Eastern New Mexico added a penalty kick late in the match in the 85th minute after a FHSU foul in the box. Carlos Viveros scored in the PK, beating
Kent Freund to the left side of the goal.
The Tigers had opportunities of their own, hitting the crossbar twice in the match. After a close first half in shots with a 6-4 advantage to ENMU, the second half shots were dominated by the visitors, 12-3.
Ryan Pakieser made the start in goal for FHSU, but left after 30 minutes due to an injury. He allowed the one goal and made four saves.
Kent Freund went the rest of the way, making four saves and allowing one goal on the PK.
The No. 18 Tigers finish their six-match homestand with a top 25 matchup against No. 11 West Texas A&M on Sunday (Oct. 7) at 12 p.m. at the FHSU Soccer Stadium.
