Fort Hays State sophomore defensive lineman Jesse Trent has been named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Team for the 2012 season. Trent was named to the second team. He was just one of eight defensive linemen in NCAA Division II named to the Academic All-American Team.

Trent is a Biology major from Dodge City, Kan. Entering the 2012 fall semester, Trent held a GPA of 3.96. Trent started all 11 games for the Tigers in 2012 on the defensive line and tied for eighth on the team in tackles with 39. He had two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick for the season.
