The Fort Hays State football team travels to Maryville, Mo., this weekend to take on 13th-ranked Northwest Missouri State. Game time is set for 1 pm at Bearcat Stadium on Saturday. The Tigers (0-2, 0-2 MIAA) are seeking their first win in Maryville since joining the MIAA in 2006. FHSU is looking to snap an eight-game losing streak to the Bearcats dating back to 1979.

Fort Hays State had a rough time in Maryville last year, falling by a score of 70-17 to a Bearcat team that was ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time. Only one contest between FHSU and NWMSU since the Tigers joined the MIAA has been within seven points, a 17-10 loss to the Bearcats in 2007 in Hays. Fort Hays State is looking for its first win in Maryville since 1978, which was also the last time the Tigers defeated the Bearcats.

The Fort Hays State offense has struggled early in games, thus resulting in just 274.5 yards of total offense per game this year. The Tigers are still looking to produce 100 or more yards of total offense in a quarter this year, with 97 as the season high in the fourth quarter of the opener at Emporia State.

True freshman Addie Brown leads the team in rushing after producing 114 yards against Washburn last week. Austin Hubert is leading the Tiger defense in tackles with 21. He had a career-high 14 against Washburn last week.

This is the second straight week the Tigers face a top 25 team and will likely face another next week when Missouri Western makes the trip to Hays. The Griffons check in at No. 8 in the nation this week.
