The Fort Hays State men's basketball team begins a tough road trip on Thursday (Jan. 24) at Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo. with tipoff at 7:30 pm. Fort Hays State enters the game at 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the MIAA, while Lindenwood is 11-4 overall and also 4-3 in the MIAA.
This is the first-ever meeting with Lindenwood in basketball for either the FHSU men or women. The Tigers are looking to get a win streak going once again, as they have gone 3-3 over the last six games, going in a win-loss-win-loss-win-loss pattern. Prior to the 3-3 stretch, FHSU was on a six-game win streak. Four of the five losses Fort Hays State has this year are by three points or less.
Lindenwood has dropped two games on its home court this year, a double-overtime loss to Pittsburg State and a three-point loss to Central Oklahoma. The Lions are 7-2 in their home building this year. Lindenwood went 28-3 overall last year playing an independent schedule, but the majority of the slate was against NAIA opponents.
Dwayne Brunson continues to lead FHSU in scoring and rebounding at 15.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Also averaging double figures in scoring are
Lance Russell (14.2),
Ben Congiusta (13.5), and
Craig Nicholson (13.1). Nicholson is leading the MIAA in assists per game (7.0).
