The Fort Hays State women's basketball team looks to get back on the winning track when it plays at Lindenwood on Thursday evening (Jan. 24) in St. Charles, Mo. FHSU enters the game at 11-4 overall, 3-4 in the MIAA, while Lindenwood is 4-11 overall, 1-6 in the MIAA.
Fort Hays State is looking to get a win streak rolling once again as it has dropped four of its last five contests. All four of those losses were to teams that are either in or have been in the Top 25 at some point this season. FHSU dropped out of the rankings on Tuesday (Jan. 22) after being in six consecutive polls. FHSU started the season on a 10-game win streak before suffering its first setback.
Lindenwood has also lost four of its last five contests. The lone win for the Lions in conference play was at home over Central Oklahoma. The Lions are still in transition from NAIA to NCAA, so neither the Lindenwood women or men can play in the MIAA Tournament at the end of the season since the winner of the tournament gets an automatic qualifying spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Kate Lehman continues to lead FHSU in scoring and rebounding at 15.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She leads NCAA Division II in blocked shots per game (4.2).
Katelyn Edwards is also averaging double figures in scoring at 12.3 points and adds 8.1 rebounds per game. FHSU has 10 players averaging at least 3.0 points per game.
