FHSU Defeats Lindenwood 75-63; Lehman Breaks FHSU Career Blocked Shot Record

Fort Hays State women's basketball picked up a 75-63 win over Lindenwood on Thursday evening (Jan. 24) in St. Charles, Mo.  With eight blocked shots in the game, Kate Lehman became the career leader in blocked shots at FHSU, now with 167 in her career passing Ashlee Gustin's 166. FHSU moved to 12-4 overall and 4-4 in the MIAA with the win.
 
Fort Hays State buried five first half 3-point field goals to help jump out to a 34-23 halftime lead. Tera Ingalsbe was the spark for FHSU early, scoring all 12 of her points in the first half, including two 3-point field goals.
 
Fort Hays State's top two scorers shouldered the majority of the offensive load in the second half. Lehman scored 14 of her team-high 17 points in the second half, finishing the game 6-of-11 from the field. She also added seven rebounds with her eight blocked shots. Katelyn Edwards had 11 second half points to finish with 16 in the game and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Beth Bohuslavsky led FHSU in assists with five. Fort Hays State led by as many as 18 with 4:25 remaining in the game.
 
Fort Hays State held Lindenwood to 36.8 percent shooting from the field. The Lady Tigers forced 22 turnovers out of the Lions in the game, including 14 in the first half. Sarah Schnieders led Lindenwood with 17 points and Tori Kuhn followed with 12. Caroline Bourlioux had a team-high 10 rebounds for the Lions.
 
Fort Hays State plays at Truman on Saturday at 1 pm in Kirksville, Mo. Both teams are receiving votes in the latest WBCA Division II Top 25 Poll.
